Take your games and go away!!!

Looking through facebook updates I got to find this one post that made me think back again about people's identity and their right to speak out and defend the land that they belong to, their roots and their identity.

A group of Caucasians who moved away due to harsh realities of their homeland apparently stand out to protest at the very first day of Olympics Games in Vancouver with banners that they say represent the word of their grandparents who fought and died in the war with more that a million others and are forgotten today by the world.

"Genocide is not OK - Take your games and go away", "One nation, one people", "We are sick of not being able to repatriate", " they are trying the world to forget", "We are the indigenous people"

Sochi, is a Russian resort city, in the Krasnodar Region situated just north on the Northern Republic of Georgia border and the Southern Russian Border facing the Black Sea. On the side of the Sochi Resort, one can see the Caucasian Mountains. The coastline was ceded to Russia in 1829 as a result of a Caucasian War and Russo-Turkish War, 1828-1829. After the end of Caucasian War (during the period of 1864-1870) almost all Ubykhs and a major part of the Shapsugs, who lived on the territory of modern Sochi, were either killed in the Circassian Genocide or forcibly expelled to the Ottoman Empire. Since 1866 the coast was being actively colonized by Russians, Armenians, Ukrainians, Belorussians, Greeks, Estonians, Germans, Moldavians, Georgians and other people from inner Russia as part of the genocidal efforts to 'cleanse' the area of its native population. Today 90 % of the Circassians live outside the Sochi and outside the Caucasus.

Sochi was announced the host city of 2014 Winter Olympics. In 2008, I got the incredible chance to see visit the resort, walk through the hills of the Mountains, Swim in the Sea and drink the healthiest water from the water springs. Driving toward the mountains, the Driver was telling us how scared he was by the change of the infrastructure due to the Olympics. The construction companies simply get attracted to it as to a future valuable land. The prices are growing by year and the locals are not able to maintain the phase, besides you can already see the adds of 2014. On the other hand, What is most talked about is always the performance of the athletes. But slowly the scenario is changing. The huge visitors certainly have negative impact on the environment. It is not the step of a foreign man that threatens the civilization. It is the interest and the business affairs of the ones who try to make out business from it without watching the Avatar.

Members of the No Sochi 2014 Committee traveled to the opening ceremonies of the Vancouver Olympics. This is an account of their first day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27pymdndcL4
