The world will laugh at us if we allow corrupt politicians to continue

With the 2011 elections approaching, the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commissioner Mrs. Farida Waziri remarked at a public forum not too long ago that the anti-graft agency would stop corrupt persons from contesting the 2011 elections, not a few eyebrows were raised. Undaunted, she reiterated the call on Wednesday saying that the structure of Nigeria’s electoral system gave room for criminals to find their way into power.

Waziri had said of alleged corrupt politicians at the public forum, “I can see some of them printing posters. The world will laugh at us if we allow these corrupt politicians to continue to participate in the polity. We will stop them because they have been stalling their trial. We will not allow them to participate in the 2011 elections.”

Analysts of Nigerian political space have remarked that the pending EFCC gavel on these politicians might just be that the same script that was used by Ribadu while he was EFCC Chairman has been dusted and is about to be staged again.

I think we need to join our voice to that of this beautiful woman on sit and say that we do not want corrupt leaders any more. She needs support from fellow women to achieve her goal for 2011 election.
