Women for Obama

Hi Elaine, Eudora, Patricia, Cathie, Phyllis, Sandra, Jean, Giselle, and all the mountains of women who were gathered with us virtually,

Thanks so very much for your listening and strong voices for re-electing President Obama. You honored us all with your authentic concern and personal stories. The reason we gathered was to fire up America's women to support Michelle's man. One day, in our lifetimes we must hope, we will be calling our circle together to support a woman running for President. Until then, let us be personal advocates for a man who lives daily a brighter future for his daughters. From tax cuts to strategic energy and economic plans to affordable and inclusive healthcare to fair pay, America's families are rising with his leadership and our support.

Each night Barack reads 10 letters. Michelle asked us to each speak with 10 people for his presidency. Seems like we are on a powerful path of the power of 10. Last night 10 of us gathered in a circle to speak our hearts' desires. I am inspired in this moment to consider the power of 10, our tribe of 10 desert women and how we can make a bold impact and attract others to the compassion that our leader embodies. The thought is passing through my mind now to include wounded warriors for golf in the valley. Excuse these flashes they occur constantly and I am compelled to give them voice, in the event there is positive energy in the universe to carry the idea into the wind of reality. McKenzy has been giving this some thought lately. You can find my 15 year old's clips on You Tube. Dear Developed Earth is the one referenced yesterday from the 9th World Wilderness Congress.

Thanks so much for your gratitudes today. The honor truly is mine, knowing that we are not alone in our spiritually-grounded, progressive advocacy for President Barack Obama. Last night we revealed stories of otherness, precautionary choices, letting go of greed, women's rights and health, being women: Catholic and Hispanic and financial geniuses and spiritual leaders and retired corporate and business visionaries. We have all we need right here in our tribe of ten to change the tide here in the desert. Yes, we can! I feel already his reelection and the joyful celebration we will enjoy together November 6. We may need a far larger house than mine by that time.

Steps along the way may call us to be with people we might not otherwise have been in relationship with-great personal diversity! We might be invited to share our talents or treasure or time-great from each as we can. Yes, we will! We may find a shorter distance between our own hearts and minds from really hearing what others do not see as easily as do we-great this is the 12 inches to mastery we all seek in so many forms. Let us find ourselves worthy of being governed by a man who naturally calls forth our higher angels.

Gisele thanks for calling and letting me know about President Obama's Florida speech on energy as it was happening. Here is a link to his energy and environmental policy: http://www.barackobama.com/record/environment?source=primary-nav

I heard him declare he "will not walk away from the promise of clean energy." And "Drill, drill, drill is not a strategy. It's a bumper sticker." He wisely understands there is no silver bullet and cautions us to be wary of politicians promising one. He calls for our brightest scientists, creative companies, brilliant researchers, and boundless ideas to tackle this challenge with an all of the above strategy. "We don't have the luxury of pretending we have limitless sources. We need serious sustained commitment to solve this problem. We all need to work hard and dream big to figure this out and summon the spirit of optimism to tackle tough problems together.

There were 3 of us in the 70’s, 6 in 60’s and I am 54. Clearly we need to find ways to attract younger women. We need to hear their life challenges. We need the digital nativity of the 20-somethings, 30 year olds rising in their careers, and middle aged women balancing raising kids and taking care of aging parents. Let’s make it mean something when we gather. And let’s make it fun! Oh, delicious, too! (eating leftovers today-yum…)

What to do or where to go from here? It sounds like Cathi will pick up the organizing, Elaine will offer her home, Sandra offers her time, Jean her financial skills, Eudora her passions for a start. I can share that, for me, jumping in full force for the last election brought great joy, deep understanding , and fascinating friendships. Are you fired up and ready to go? Let me know how I can help for the month of May then I will be on my way to Alaska to inspire the Land of the Large where women work everyday alongside men for our families to pioneer a life worthy of our natural beauty.

Yesterday Michelle asked us to text CHANGE to 62262. If you have a smartphone you go to your texting bubble and type in the numbers 62262 then type in CHANGE. This will link you with real time updates for the campaign.

And most importantly, just for you Sandra, get the free ringtone of President Obama singing, "I am so in love with you!" http://www.barackobama.com/ringtone/

So I love you and love what we are creating together. We have only just begun.

Friend me on Facebook-you could create a private group on Facebook called the Tribe of 10. May the force of friendship be with us and women around the world.
