Getting to Know the President of the UN General Assembly

Each year in September, the UN General Assembly leadership changes. This year, the President is Joseph Deiss from Switzerland. Mr. Deiss is a facilitator who encourages debate to resolve problems. He is a firm believer that it is vital to speed up the pace of achieving successful outcomes against all 8 UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

Helping to infuse momentum and new energy into achieving the Millennium Development Promise means getting more people active. Have you spoken to or written your political leaders urging them to take action to relief human suffering? This is a great platform to learn how to do that if you haven't.

If every voice on PulseWire would focus their attention on writing just one letter building support and consensus from each of our countries, our network could make a very powerful statement.

I would suggest taking an issue which you are passionate, then research what the UN has said and done and what position your country has taken on the issue.. Has a UN resolution been passed that is not being implemented in your country? Deiss maintains that it makes no sense to pass a resolution in the UN, if it can not be implemented.

Send your letter to your leaders, and post an article in your World Pulse journal to let us know how we might help in achieving successful outcomes.
