Introducing myself and my journal: All around women

About Me:
Have been wandering the world in different aspects for four decades. From my great aunt I learned independence, equity, follow your dreams, dont sell your soul, hate injustice, hate corruption, and you can do anything you set your soul and mind to do. Integrity has been a big decision factor in my life and no matter where adversity takes me I am there to keep my soul intact. From others I have learned how easy it is to lie, how easy it is to abuse power and how there is an imbalance on equality between women and men and worst of all how as women age their opportunities dwindle and become almost non-existent. I have learned that women face discrimination, antagonism, and violence in many ways every day. But most importantly I have learned that we have to let the world know that we exist that we are capable, that we can educate ourselves and that we can, we want and we will.
I live in Puerto Rico an island in the Caribbean which for the last few months domestic violence has taken and umprecendented turn where the reported deaths of women at the hands of their partners has increased exponentially. I belong to several non - profits both in the island and outside. For example : Tierra y Madera a theater/arts non-profit where we have made some plays directed at the political situation on the island as well as violence against women, also I belong to an organization called APRODEC which deals with the economic development and the return of naval base owned land back to our township, belong to an organization in Orlando, Florida called Fundacion Baila Corazon which strives to have domestic/sexual abused women and children recover self-esteem and self preservation techniques both mentally and physically thru the arts, self defense and economic independence.
In the Corporacion de Desarrollo Economico de Ceiba, we strive for the economic development, creation of small microenterprises and the technical assistance of small businesses in order to help sustain these small towns and as well develop their weaken economies.
Love to read and learn, write and dream and hope that everything is going to be ok and the world will come to be one.
