In memory of those who lost their lives as a result of Domestic Violence

Let Yourself Be Heard
Let Yourself Be Heard

While growing up I always wanted to have an orphanage. But as I got into the university and studied issues concerning women (Women's Studies with Sociology and Anthropology) in the University of Buea and Gender and Development in the university of Yaoundé 1 Cameroon, my dreams changed.

My passion was now to empower women and girls especially economically. But the choice of #DomesticViolence came as a result of the fact that I wanted an area of focus which seemed neglected the most. I realized Domestic Violence had become a way of life acceptable by many but with many negative effects. Being an empathetic leader and passionate about gender equality, as well as having had friends and family members who have suffered from domestic violence, I decided to start an awareness campaign about domestic violence to cause a positive change in attitudes and mindsets.

With the help of a mentor who guided me through and directed me on how to go about setting up an organization I was able to start up The Hope Center to rehabilitate girls and women who have suffered or are suffering from domestic violence to bring out the real worth in them and to empower them to be strong women who can #ACTIVELY contribute to their personal development and the development of their communities and societies.

It started on 27th May 2017 with an online awareness about Domestic Violence on Facebook. The Hope Center came about as my own way of giving back to my community. After studying Women, Gender and Development issues for over 6 years obtaining Bachelor's and Master's degrees, the only way I could give back was to start up something which could bring about a positive change in attitudes and mindsets.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Do something to Save A Life.
