I have jsut returned to Portland, Oregon after living for most of the last 10 years in South Africa, working with a women's weaving cooperative in a small village outside a black township. It was some sort of synchronicity that brought me there 9 years ago after a year of breast cancer treatment just when the 30 year old coop was about to go under.
