I am doing some dissertation research in Haiti and interested in ways of supporting education for girls and women, as well as community-based trauma counseling while I am there. I also work with the Interuniversity Institute for Research and Development (INURED).
I am adopted from Guatemala, and was raised in Canada. Knowing this fact has always made me a little more aware of worldy events then my peers...I would like to think. I have a strong desire to know my roots, and help the culture and people I have left behind. I want to travel, and capture every moments of life, the good and not so sun filled moments.

I am a nonprofit communications and programs professional, focusing on international rural development. I have been working for the past three years for the nonprofit READ (Rural Education and Development) Global in rural communities in South Asia. Previously, I spent two years as a Peace Corps volunteer on the edges of the Sahel, in Dogon country, Mali, West Africa.
I'm a woman who is testing my voice in the world. I am humbled to be able to draw strength and inspiration from the stories of women throughout the world.
I am currently the Coordinator of The Institute for Inclusive Security's Women Waging Peace Network. We work to ensure the full participation of women in peace and reconcilation processes.
