I am a clinical counselor, private researcher, author, educator, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), and Registered Lactation Consultant (RLC) focusing on issues related to culture, psychology, and the family — particularly as they relate to breastfeeding and the needs of women during their reproductive and mothering years.
I'm a parent, writer, and women's health advocate. I write a blog called In Tandem: Your Creative Pursuits Amid Work & Parenting. Also, I work as a Sexual Assault Survivor Advocate. I'm passionate about creativity, meditation/mindfulness, and the empowerment of women globally.
I have been involved in women's rights advocacy for about 20 years, and have focused on gender, human rights and HIV for the past several years. Am a lawyer/NGO project manager by profession, and have worked extensively in Nigeria and Uganda. Excited to be a part of this new community!
I am the founder and Executive Director of First Step Initiative, a Minnesota-based microfinance organization with operation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. First Step Initiative works with women and empowers them to create their own destinies and achieve their full potential.
Continuing a life long commitment to women, as a path breaker and as a mentor, and also as a mother of daughters and a son, I am on the board of two organizations for women, both of which I founded, one in Hong Kong and one in the US that supports women in Asia. I am interested in web based ways to strengthen the capacity of women and women's NGOs. non profit management, grant writing.
I currently work at WaterAid America -- our mission is to raise awareness and funds in the US about the global water and sanitation crisis in support of WaterAid's 17 country programs in Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. Water and sanitation are primarily women's issues -- and they are not prioritized, in part, because globally, women lack a voice.
Hi, there! Thanks for stopping by. I am originally from France and I've been traveling (or backpacking or living) abroad for a long time. When I was little, I wanted to be a mechanic, then a vet, then a social worker and finally a physician. Today I get to do a little bit of all this in my current job: I am very lucky...and would like to share this!
