My name is Katje. I'm a holistic psychotherapist and creative consultant in Portland, Oregon, USA. I have a background in dance, bodywork, yoga and women's health, and am in the midst of completely my PhD specializing in Somatic Psychology.
From the time I was a young child losing my parents and family and being raised in the foster care system taught me that adversity could either make or break me and that change is the only unchanging variable in life. Now I am a social psychologist with over 20 years experience working with diverse populations promoting human potential and change.
I'm a member of Peacemakers, Inc., a grassroots organization of women in Dallas. We have created three International Women's Peace Conferences, the last in 2007, which was attended by 1400 women, and featured three women Nobel Peace Prize winners. http://www.peacemakersincorporated.org
I like to think of myself as a lovely lively young woman, I love to speak my mind.......... I love to get my messages across. My passion is Africa, my addiction is my country Nigeria. I am a proud African and Nigerian.
I've been lucky to travel to Africa and Mexico and see poverty first hand. I have two children and I try to teach them how lucky they are to have been born in the US. I ask myself, what if I had born in the bush of Botswana or the desert of Sudan? Wouldn't I try my best to raise above the challenges of my surroundings? But what if I didn't have the chance.
I am 25 years old. I am also married with one 2year old daughter. I believe so much in young women and have been working with them for the past 6months. I know that sometimes their voices are not being heard and they are left out in so many things. I would like to see that change from today onwards!
