I am an indigenous Kankana-ey Igorot woman from the Philippines. I am the daughter of a staunch feminist, but am, myself, a reluctant women's rights advocate. People tell me that being feminist is not about knowing feminist theory by heart or openly professing one's feminism, but about what one does in life and work. I like this characterization of feminism.
Although I am portuguese, I was a Computer Engineering teacher at the National University of East Timor (UNTL) in 2007 and 2008. During the seven months I have remained in Timor, I became deeply attached with the young country and I had the opportunity to understand the needs perceived by the Timorese society. I have learned Tetum and I have travelled quite a lot in Southeast Asia.
