REPORTS TO:  development manager

Works directly with: Development team, Finance team, Technology team, Marketing team, and Programs team

Oversees:  Volunteers and vendors

The Development Associate helps establish World Pulse as a leader in innovative funding solutions. S/he is a vocal representative who supports the development department with the planning and implementation of our fundraising activities to achieve the organizational funding goals. The Development Associate ensures proper donor stewardship and representation of World Pulse on external funding sites. Candidates should be passionate about World Pulse’ mission and impact, possess exemplary interpersonal and writing skills, outstanding attention to detail, eagerness to excel in all responsibilities listed below, and curiosity to grow his or her role at World Pulse to create greater organizational impact.

 

TERMS

This is a full-time position and is subject to deductions for taxes and other withholdings as required by law and the policies of the organization. This is a non-exempt position. Salary is dependent on experience.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development team with implementation of annual funding plan
  • Track, code, and acknowledge all incoming gifts in the database in a timely manner
  • Respond promptly and professionally to donor inquiries and requests
  • Research and test best practices and innovative strategies in the funding world and implement new learnings for greater impact
  • Monitor and update external representation of World Pulse (e.g. GuideStar, Catapult, Impact Flow, Your Cause, Global Giving, etc.)
  • Coordinate direct (e)mail initiatives and support the department in working closely with marketing team to leverage opportunities
  • Support major funders’ cultivation, solicitation, research, grant writing, and stewardship
  • Collaborate with technology team to bring greater efficiency in funding portfolio tracking, reporting, and moves management
  • Produce regular reports of fundraising activities and coordinate alignment with finance and CRM records
  • Ensure proper and timely grant administration
  • Support development of fundraising materials and communications, funders’ representation on website; coordinate with marketing department and vendors, as needed
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for special events, funding travel, and other development activities
  • Represent and liaise for World Pulse in meetings and forums, as needed
  • Manage development team volunteers

SKILLS, REQUIREMENTS, AND ATTRIBUTES

The key attributes for this position include:

  • Experience in fund development with non-profit and/or social enterprise entities
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A record of professionalism, integrity, confidentiality and cross-cultural responsiveness
  • Self-motivated, critical thinker who can identify creative solutions
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage a broad scope of activities and multiple deadlines
  • Experience and comfort with office technology including Microsoft Office Suite, Skype, Slack, and more
  • Experience with donor databases (Raiser’s Edge preferred) and basic graphic design
  • Proven, exemplary interpersonal and diplomacy skills, and the ability to contribute individually and participate in cross-functional teams
  • Commitment to the mission of World Pulse
  • Curiosity to expand knowledge in women’s empowerment and technology sectors and stay informed of funding trends
  • An ability to work flexible hours as necessary, including evenings or weekends for special events
