Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I'm a junior in the honors program at Park University, double-majoring in Public Relations and Broadcast Journalism. I'm the editor of The Stylus, our award-winning student-run newspaper.

In summer 2010, I studied abroad in Uganda on a Peace Journalism Scholarship. Basically, peace journalism is about reporters and editors making choices that lead to an atmosphere where peace becomes possible. I was there to assist my professor in teaching seminars to professional local broadcasters, and to do post-conflict development journalism.

This winter, I will be traveling in the Middle Eastern country Jordan on a grant from America's Unofficial Ambassadors, doing research and marketing work to prevent malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV/AIDS with Friends of the Global Fund.

I've been quoted in over 30 different media outlets (such as Sydney Morning Herald, Los Angeles Times, US News & World Report, and many more) on topics as diverse as marketing, Generation Y, international affairs, and environmental issues.

In a recent anonymous peer review, my classmates used these words to describe me: Determined. Intelligent. Strong. Entertaining.

My Passions:
peace, journalism, coffee, international development, public health, nonprofit organizations, volunteering, travel, stories

My Areas of Expertise:
journalism, public relations, marketing, research, writing
