Ladies and fashion trends.

Cameroonians very much love fashion and are always apace with the world of fashion. Girls in particular will make a good sample for a study on the world of fashion. Something about these lovers of fashion always astonishes me handbags, shoes, mesh and more. Their sudden love and subsequent dislike for fashion, the swiftness with which items ‘come into fashion and leave’ present an interesting rhythm.
In the 80s trousers known then as ‘alpaca’ were the talk of the fashion world. These held the thighs tight but were loose around the feet. Ladies wore shoes with fat heels. From my parents photos taken in the 70s men wore shoes with pointed tips and tight fitting shirts. In the 90s, men and women turned to tight fitting trousers which were then fondly called ‘pencil’ and shoes with pointed tips. In the early 2000s they once more turned to ‘alpaca’ which they preferred to call ‘trumpet’. Shoes had big thick heels and flat tips. Today all are gradually turning again to ‘pencil’ with men loving tight fitting shirts more than ever before. Ladies wear shoes with small pointed high heels with pointed tips which are called ‘pointininy’. I guess ‘trumpet’ should be on its way back in a few years from now.
This trend has also been noted in the handbags girls carry around. From the small handbags they used to hold, girls now carry bigger bags to complement their dressing. In this era, they are called ‘I go sleep’ loosely translated as “I will spend the night”`. No matter how expensive these bags appear to be, every girl no matter the socioeconomic status wants to posses at least one. For sure, in less than no time the trend will change. How the ‘zig zag’ trend keeps ladies busy and beautiful.
