Tel que vous le mentionnez, il n'est pas recommandé de donner du miel (pasteurisé ou non) à un enfant de moins d'un an. En effet, les spores d'une bactérie (Clostridium botulinum) peuvent coloniser l'intestin de l'enfant et causer une maladie mortelle.

Toutefois, l'intestin adulte est moins propice au développement de cette bactérie et une invasion de l'intestin adulte se produit généralement seulement chez les personnes souffrant d'un problème gastro-intestinal ou suite à un traitement sous antibiothérapie. Étant donné le risque faible de colonisation par la bactérie chez les adultes en santé, les femmes qui ne présentement pas de maladies gastro-intestinales particulières peuvent consommer du miel au cours de la grossesse.
