Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I am about to be a great grandmother and have dreamed, prayed and given my energy to the idea of grandmothers' councils in government and society for 25 years. I have Cherokee and Celtic ancestry and studied the wisdom of the Seneca intensively for 7 years (1987-1994), until the elders quit teaching. I used the healing techniques that were allowed in my work as a substance abuse counselor until they stopped anything that sounds like "religion" from being used in counseling through the states of TX and Arkansas. I taught a few of workshops comparing one of the Seneca medicine wheels to the 12-steps of Alcoholics Anonymous.

My Passions:
Dancing, singing, fibre arts/crafts, living history demonstrations, primitive camping, powwow

My Challenges:
I work in Arkansas Department of Corrections as a Substance Abuse Program Leader. That's challenge enough.

My Vision for the Future:
The grandmothers' councils will be used again to prevent exploitation of the weak and tender, the earth and her resources, and violence

My Areas of Expertise:
Substance Abuse in Therapeutic Community modality, Mental Health Counseling
