Upcoming Selections

Hello book clubbers!

I am so encouraged reading the plans orchestrated by Sharese, Ellen and Laura to meet up on Skype and chat about the last two World Pulse Book Club selections. I honor you for taking leadership and running with it!

I am guilty of falling behind in the reading, but I am eager to finish up No Woman No Cry and join the discussion and I encourage those of you who haven't yet spoken up here to chime in and share your thoughts and ideas for what books you'd like to read, if and when a Skype chat could work for you this month and in what direction you would like to see this book club go.

As Laura mentioned, I too am eager to get the conversations rolling. As I finish No Woman No Cry, it has been so interesting personally because I have listened to and loved Bob Marley's music my whole life. Yet, it's amazing how little we heard about the strong woman behind this man.

As November is quickly moving along and we haven't officially picked a title yet, I suggest moving Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's Half of a Yellow Sun to December. We have so many Nigerian members on PulseWire, it would be great to have a chance to invite them to join the group and weigh in on the book. And what does everyone think about reading Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn for our January selection? I have heard amazing things about this book and think it would be an inspirational way to kick off the New Year.

What do you think?
