Introducing myself and my journal

Born and raised in Boulder, Colorado, I love the outdoors and enjoy a natural lifestyle. My parents would definitely quality as hippies left over from the 60's. They believe homeopathic remedies work better than Aspirin, they think world peace can be achieved through love and art, and they don't believe television is healthy for children (or people in general). This last point I can agree with them on. While it's virtually impossible to avoid technology altogether, I do make a point not to waste away my life watching television. Instead I love being outdoors: hiking, biking, swimming, skiing, rock climbing, and more!

I heard about this site from my friend and I semi-regularly read the PulseWire journals. I've been tempted to start a journal of my own but I feared no one would really care what I had to say. However recently, I've been having so many thoughts that I want to write down. I figured this would be the best place to house all those thoughts. And if no one cares what I have to say, well then it would just be the same as not writing it down. I figure I have nothing to lose.

In this journal I plan to write about my thoughts as they pertain to world issues. I'm very concerned about women's rights globally. In America there are still issues of gender equality but for the most part women are rather well respected compared to how they are treated in other countries. I hear/see/read things all the time that make me angry, or make me think, or inspire me. I plan to write about them here so hopefully others will be able to see that this is an important issue we need to address.
