Introducing myself and my journal



About Me:
I am a professor of African history and Gender and Women's Studies. My research has focused on gender sexual politics in Southern African history. My current work explores the experience of child refugees from Africa, with a focus on women and girls. I am an engaged scholar. My current areas of research and activism are around issues of sexual and gender based violence in war and its aftermath, the global fight for lgbt rights and justice and women's role in peace building. I believe that the way we will change the world is: 1) believing that we can and 2) listening to those who are.



My Passions:
social justice organizing, excavating women's agency in history,



My Challenges:
creating alliances; learning how not to spread self too thin; combining strengths of different sectors and resisting all orthodoxies.



My Vision for the Future:
Building peace.
