"VOF Week 1: (Connecting minds, linking thoughts and ideas for women´s development)".

The world of the internet certainly has defeated the barriers of communications. It has reached unimagined spaces, places and people and shortened the distance between peoples. Who would have thought that the development of technology would allow the exchange of knowledge, ideas, thoughts and ways of being? More surprising and paradoxical is that the development of internet concepts and technologies are being transformed to change the world; to separate people physically but connect people emotionally.

I believe that the world of Web 2.0 was born to make a change. With such tools, the contact with other people who share the same interests and concerns breaks the barriers of language, race or religion. It is the tool created at the right moment, at the right place and for the right people. It is the ideal element that gathers thousands of people in any cause and amazingly, in a matter of seconds, contributes to it by raising consciousness in every single person that inhabits the planet. Besides the fascinating possibilities of networking, educating, sharing knowledge, participating and self-expressing, it gives the opportunity to meet more easily valuable people around the world, who work hardly for the benefit of their societies.

Technology has a powerful influence all over the globe. It is surprising to know that still many people, living in a globalized world, do not have access to information. Thanks to the web development, new spaces for speaking, expressing, sharing stories and knowledge and, contributing with different information have arisen. Today Web 2.0 can be considered one of the most important and powerful tools for women to solve problems, to change not only minds but different issues related to the abilities and capacities of women.

Women are the root of their families. They are the center and balance for the child in order to succeed in life. More and more women are being detached of the physical, emotional and mental limits that were taught to them when they were girls. Web 2.0 is an amicable platform where women around the globe can share their cultures and stories with other women and be listened, understood and supported. It is the platform where women can build nets to promote that the female voices have strengthen and are able to make political, economical, social and cultural decisions that can transform the way we live today. It is the window opened to create opportunities, to advice, to develop and most important, to remind us how powerful our nature is.

Web 2.0 is the place where I can express myself and be heard by others, others who live in the same or worst conditions than I do. The richness that I receive through the exchange of concerns, ideas, knowledge, information and feedback from other people that hear me, it does not matter from where, is worthy to fight and improve the rights and conditions of women and children who still in the 21st century are being under represented, excluded and hurt.
