Introducing myself and my journal

About Me:
I co-founded Girls Education International in November 2006 with Heidi Wirtz, my longtime friend and rock climbing partner. We decided to start Girls Ed after spending a few weeks in the village Khane, Northern Areas, Pakistan. While there we were struck by the disparities between the education and facilities offered to the boys versus the girls. We decided, then and there, that we wanted to empower disadvantaged girls in remote and undeveloped communities of the world, specifically in mountainous regions. Since the inception of our nonprofit, we have developed and implemented two scholarship programs in Liberia and Nepal and are embarking on a school construction project in Pakistan.

My Passions:
educating and empowering women

My Challenges:
Finding funding for the Girls Education International projects and administrative costs

My Vision for the Future:
Literacy, health education, and economic empowerment for women in every corner of the world

My Areas of Expertise:
public relations, marketing, business management
