VOF Week 4 (My vision.... Freedom)

I consider myself still wanting of success to help the marginalized women become self-sufficient and capable of providing for their needs without the help of their husband. I want to see a community where the women are able to secure their needs within their capability.

Of course, with the experience I have of abject poverty, I'd like to see other women become free from this condition through the opportunities that must be created in society. what I mean is, the government who are in the position to effect change must be more conscious of the development and empowerment of women to enable them to find job without worrying about whether or not their husband agree or permit them. My vision of women, in general is, freedom from the clutches of patriarchy.
This vision is an offshoot of the observations made among women of different social status in my country. The women are prevented from joining organizations, working to earn additional income just because they have husband to care for and homes to keep because nobody should perform the housework except them.
In the age of globalization where there are no territorial boundaries for economic goods and services to penetrate local markets, the women should be given more access to these goods by empowering economically to improve their condition.
One important means to achieve this vision is the strengthening of network and linkages among women organizations to share in the education and knowledge generation among members. Pulsewire is a very effective way of realizing my vision. One limitation however is the use of the ICT technology to keep the connections alive among women who have been connected in the voices of our Future.
As an educator by profession, I will propose that my women group will have training on ICT use, especially, on using the internet. I am going to conduct a special ICT-related course for women that will enhance their capacilty to communicate and share information with other women in the pulsewire network. In this manner, I am able to have their voices directly heard by their women counterpart in other countries.
My vision is empowerment of women ... freeing them from the clutches of patriarchy to link with other women and empower themselves to experience an improvement in the quality of their life .. economically and politically. it's my vision....shared to you,, that we may help each other in its fulfillment. Together we hurdle all barriers to its attainment.
