Why All The Hate?

I began a discussion with my colleagues at work today on the subject of gay rights and as usual, everyone was against me and some even suggested that I be prayed for, because I was probably demon possessed, or I was ignorant and did not know what I saying because I was not a lesbian and certainly could not argue for them.

I do not understand why what two people agree to do behind closed doors is of so much concern to others. Who do gays and lesbians hurt by doing what they do? Why do people find it so hard to believe that people are born that way?

Africans, while we are so quick to say this is a way of life that was imported from the West, think again. Have you ever heard stories of men who supposedly impotent, and had to call their brothers to sleep with their wives and make babies for them? Is it not possible that some of those cases were men who were not in anyway attracted to women?

And while we want to justify homophobia by religion and the love of God, have we forgotten that hundreds of years ago, left-handed children when labeled children of the devil? These children were forced and traumatised use their right hands. Today, it is unthinkable to even voice such a thing.

And if you say it is not natural and that people are not born that way, how about dolphins and chimps who are occasionally gay? Were they trained by men to be that way?

Why is so difficult for to accept that people could be born gay, just like hermaphrodites or a baby born with six fingers and that all of these are just anomalies?

For me, it is simple. I am not the Creator and I am not God, so I leave the judging to Him.
