2010 VOF Week 3

It’s sometimes difficult to understand how best your solution will fit other people’s lifestyles. It’s a challenge to put your personal vision into ground action at the right time. But the thing is, if you never try you will still have failed. The problems and barriers in my community can be best described with the following words: corruption, negative mentality that things will never change, tribalism, a very shaky political ground, a growing economy, joblessness for most youth and my list is endless. This however will allow us to want a change for our communities. I am mostly involved in the community through my church, I have assisted in raising funds through participating in garage sales of which the money gotten is donated to a social program which gives women from poor backgrounds the chance to go to college. They mainly take catering courses, housekeeping courses, etc because these are skills which they can easily get jobs with. Their incomes can then be able to sustain their families. The same money raised is used to pay school fees for high school students. I got to meet about 3 of these students in person and it was amazing. They all come from poor backgrounds but they are not letting their circumstances interrupt their own personal visions of becoming doctors and engineers. Some are not able to buy all the school books needed and expressed that they are often teased because they are poor. They see beyond their current life circumstance of lack of money but they know that discovering their personal world within will help them discover the world without and allow them to dream big. As a Pulser I am constantly faced with many opportunities and resources which I can share and connect with. I can also make my own offers, and help where someone posts a need that is within my reach. When I get more into my own social project, this is the first place I will ask for help and guidance because it has been made available for me. Many many solutions can be replicated for developing nations and what works for one could be the easiest solution for many. Go Pulse Wire! Go! It’s such a great platform we just need to make much more use of it. Hey, I even already applied to one of the posted opportunities, so here’s to making a difference to our communities, starting with one person at a time.
