Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate

It has been an amazing experience working in the new independent country of South Sudan. Many Juba residents are excited about the future that the country holds for them. They have come from being a war torn country and now to an independent state, isn’t that amazing? I guess they have pulled their act together for the better of the nation and people got tired of war.

Mostly though in such situations you find mothers and children who go through much more than they had ever imagined. I have talked to many and learnt a few things, most important of which:

1.War changes you as a person, makes you grow in your spirituality and you learn a lot about yourself as a human being
2.Tragedy is not always a traversty it may bring you hardship but you are made stronger as a woman
3.Your children and their survival is what keeps you alive and at times consumes you
4.Women too can fight for their rights
5.The mind is powerful and your thoughts can transform you

As women we sometimes fail to remember that we too can use our thoughts to transform us. Even when going through the biggest tragedy the light prevails in the end.

I love these words (not sure said by whom):
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God.”
