A beautiful shadow of the Queen

What excites me the most about using Web 2.0 is its power to create safe spaces for women to explore issues which are affecting them in their own respective countries and also to be able to tell their own stories. I personally think that as a young woman living in South Africa, Johannesburg a City that is mostly known for its gold mines and riches however you still find that sadly a large population of young women still struggle to gain access to opportunities and employment. So what motivates me about this creative tool is that through the consistent use of Web 2.0 and other social media sites I can be able to gather information about opportunities especially for young women who have just matriculated. It sounds like a liberating way to influence and inspire others through storytelling which I personally feel like it’s the preeminent and influential way to our tell stories. The solutions that I think that web 2.0 will bring it’s the strength to build networks of like minded women who share the same cause and also to benefit women from different backgrounds with tools and resources that we sometimes think we lack for others to start sharing their stories to the global Community, This will enable more women to get their voices heard and better transform their own lives and of those they interact with in the process. Just like the African proverb said that,” if you want to walk fast, walk alone but if you want to walk far, walk together”. So more women will be able to unite and work towards achieving the same goals in their countries of residence. Writing has also been my passion since I was a little girl as I have found that this craft allows one an opportunity to freely express themselves and reach a much wider audience whilst raising awareness on sensitive issues and social matters. This tool can really motivate me to keep writing as I will be reaching a much wider audience and also I will be somehow challenged to write about not only what’s close to my heart but to also explore other issues that are affecting us as women like gender based violence, HIV/AIDS, social entrepreneurship because already women are active change agents in their communities yet they still find themselves struggling to make ends meet and even to feed and take care of their families. And lastly in my culture we believe that “if you educate a woman, you educate a nation”. So this will also allow me to be an agent of change to both my peers and other women across oceans. And most importantly to ensure that we are part of the Global community and we are also not ignorant on other issues such genocide, forced marriages and genital mutilation.
