Making Your Vision a Reality.

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it will speak, and not lie. Though it tarry, wait for it, because it will surely come…” (Habakkuk 2:3).

A dream or a vision can be a strong motivating force to see you through life’s difficulties. Why? Because a dream or a vision can become the compass that keeps you headed in the right direction when you cannot quite see your way with clarity. It is that thing that makes you tick — and keeps you enthusiastic and upbeat even in dire situations. As Stedman Graham puts it, “It is your life’s destination.”

The road to accomplishing your dreams can be bumpy, strewn with potholes, blocked by hurdles, and complicated by detours. But your compass can help you get back on the right track. It will allow you to re-route if need be.
Ambition, resources and talent are vital components of success, but there are certain things you must be able to do to provoke your vision to come to pass. Having a mental image of what it is that you want to achieve is one tool you need to accomplish your goals. You must literarily be able to see yourself in that successful state. Burned on your mind, the image then becomes the engine that fuels your ambitions.
Commitment is a second indispensable tool for reaching your goals. The little you do each day is crucial to the realization of your vision. As the saying goes, little drops of water make a mighty ocean.
Tragically, many people have given up on their dreams because they met with seemingly impassable dead-ends: momentarily stuck, they looked at their inadequacies, listened to people’s criticisms of them, considered the mountains they had to climb, and chose to give up. The road of history is littered with abandoned ambitions—Albert Einstein’s, Nelson Mandela's, Barack Obama’s and Oprah Winfrey's that could have been, but alas were not.
Quitting is not an option for the visionary. If you fail once, try again. Do not wait for the conditions to become perfect, or even favorable, in order to take a leap of faith. Remember what the prophet Elijah told King Ahab toward the end of Israel’s 42-month drought. There was not a single rain cloud in the sky, yet Elijah confidently told him: “Go up and eat and drink; for there is the sound of abundance of rain” (1 Kings 18:41-45).
Elijah predicted a downpour based on the “inner vision” of his faith, and then he went to the top of Mount Carmel to pray—in other words, to take steps to ensure that the vision would come to pass. There on the mountain, he sent his servant six times to see if there was a sign of rain, but there was nothing. Refusing to give up, Elijah told him a seventh time to go and check. This time the servant returned and said, “A cloud as small as a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” Before long, a torrential thunderstorm cloaked the land of Israel.
Is your vision only as small as a man’s hand? Pursue it relentlessly. If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, Jesus said, you could move mountains.
