Introducing myself and my journal: Using Internet For Peace

About Me:
Born in Kapleswar Village of Kendrapara District of Orissa state of India as the fourth daughter of Sri Bichitrananda &Nirmala Mohanty, freedom fighters& follower of a famous peace maker of the world Mahatma Gandhi . From my childhood, I learnt about values and smilingly accepted naturally living in difficulty. I have chosen the field that requires a great deal of social courage and commitment. I learn that in my society women are treated as secondary citizens, where in every five minutes a woman is either assaulted or abused and exploited, where women are grossly deprived of their participation in the socioeconomic and political floors, and where most of the women have no voice against the violation of their human rights. I am talking about the rural & tribal area women of my state. I have a deep feeling for them that motivating me to work for them. Though I have lot of other opportunities, I resigned from the government job took up the noble task of doing social services. Through maaghra & sanjeevani I am connecting my self with them throughout the state. On 2004 created Maa Ghara (Mothers Home), which rehabilitating trafficked and sexually exploited women and girls.. I have rescued, rehabilitated and given legal support to more than 5000 women victims successfully; educating youth, women and other backward people through her weekly newspaper JANANI (The Voice of Women). I have opened helpline with the help of different women social workers in other districts to render services to the unreached and distressed women in Odisha. As a regular practice, I have been pioneering controlling and combating women trafficking in Odisha; setting up a new social trend of reform by organizing marriages of unwed mothers, given social recognition and mainstreamed many rape victims; forming women community vigilance groups, women domestic workers association; organizing public hearing on women atrocities, advocating the cause of distressed women in electronic and print media, sensitizing policy makers, judiciary and other stakeholders, motivating youth towards nation building, filing PILs to protect the fundamental rights of the backward people.. Working with police and and politicians on policy reform, giving training to deferent service providers and policy makers on protection & Rights of women, doing Advocacy through Media
When I started my work in the field of conflict resolution and to stop violence against women , I faced lot of challenges from local administration as well as from the Govt. During that time I was completely ignorant about e-mail and internet. I was also ignorant about how to get resources and who are the other organizations supporting for the cause of women. Then after few years of my work, in 2007, I got to know from my friends about internet and its importance in modern day. Then I started searching web to access the information about women issues, availability of resources and the outstanding work done by different organizations, institutions helping the women and availability of existing legal support for the people fighting for the cause of women. As I was working on women trafficking issue in Odisha, Internet accessibility helped me find out US Govt. Fund supporting for the organizations working on women trafficking issues. Then, I applied to the US Fund through internet and got the project in 2009 and also got chance by US Govt. to visit to different organizations (both Govt. and Non-Govt) in USA on Human Trafficking Issue through \"International Visitor's Leadership programme\". It needs to be mentioned here that Mass Media continuously highlighted my activity and women issues taken by me which was uploaded in website and introduced me with International Organizations. When I face problem locally to protect women Victim , by accessing internet I circulate the grievances to the right forum or organizations at national and international level. This was highlighted in different forum and media which built pressure on Govt. to dispose the grievances and provided justice to the victims. My work was also highlighted internationally through web. After few years of of sharing of my activities, I got the opportunity to participate in women Peace Maker programme organised by University of Sandiego, California State . The selection procedure was very rigorous and I got selected as one of the four members selected out of thousands of applications. Using internet, I communicated and circulated all my experience and expertise on conflict resolution and peace which made me finally selected as Women Peace Maker of 2013. One of my personal interview which was taken by Editor, California Lawyers' Magazine is available in website \" in www.callawyers.com ( legally speaking) which is now influencing different stakeholders including Govt. of India making policies in favor of women. Internet connecting me with various organization working on human rights issue as well as conflict resolution and peace building , Now I am connected with women peace makers of around 13 countries ,through regular dialog in internet we are trying to make opinions on conflict, war & peace . In the same time I have trended about hundreds of women social leaders in different district of Odisha state who are running our women help line counseling & legal support center voluntarily to support women victim ,how to use internet . Now it is much easier for us to sear information with a very little expenditure to them and also they are helping rural women and tribal women by collecting knowledge regarding pogramme and projects of government of india and Odisha in fervor of women , law in fervor of women and searing with mass. Millions of women are getting information and knowledge witch is making them empowered. The overall objectives are promoting the peaceful coexistence of conflict affected ethnic groups through strengthened democratic processes.
