What does it really mean to be a citizen journalist and What is citizen journalism?



Citizen Journalism is the idea that all citizens can and should take an active role in the news. By using tools of modern technology ANYONE can become a citizen journalists and create important stories for the world to access via the Internet!



Here are a few things to remember about citizen journalists:



Citizen journalists do not have to work for a big media organization or work full time
Citizen journalists do not have to create traditional news stories, they can tell personal and unique stories to the world
Citizen journalists do have to dedicate themselves to gathering accurate information and unique stories
Citizen journalists do have to strive to increase access to information about people and stories that do not receive attention from traditional media
Citizen journalists do use the Internet and social media tools to let the world know about their work
Citizen journalists tell stories using their own words and ideas
