Introducing myself and my journal: Woman Aloud!

About Me:

I am a lawyer, poet, published author, blogger, designer and gender activist. I am passionate about women's rights and the status of women in Africa. For long, I have always believed that the internet is an effective platform for fighting gender oppression and sharing your ideals with the world. I have a very broad outlook to life and my struggle. I believe that women owe it to themselves to carve a niche for themselves and demand for their basic rights as opposed to waiting for the society to hand it down to them. As a citizen of a developing country, I have seen first hand how women are oppressed and discriminated against on the basis of their sex. The Law and cultural dictates combine forces to frustrate the existence of the African woman. I find it deplorable that women themselves are beginning to buy into the idea that they are second class citizens and see it as a responsibility to sensitise women on the need to speak out against discrimination and reject beliefs that push them to the bottom of the totem pole. It is my desire to see the African girl and every other girl in the developing world strive to attain excellence in their lives. I look forward to sharing and connecting with members of world pulse as well as broaden my horizon and learn of things beyond my world.

My hobbies include writing, reading and taking long walks.

Thank you.
