Web 2.0 is a door ajar…inviting us. A window cracked open letting in light. It is a farm where our voices grow, an ocean of undiscovered life. It is a new form of communication.
2010 VOF Week 1
When I was a little girl growing up in Nigeria where my father worked, almost every week my mother would take me to the university bookshop.
What most excites me about Web 2.0 is its ability to connect people, average citizens, across professions, countries, and even language (thanks to Google Translate and other free online software).
Too often, people with a lack of adequate health education and access to healthcare resources are blamed for not making better health choices.
What most excites me about Web 2.0 is that it: Facilitates the sharing of experiences, thoughts, ideas. Facilitates “open-ness”, “one-ness”, “purposeful-ness”.
I can hear the voices of my sisters. Voices from places I have only imagined, but have never been. My sisters are black, brown and white. They are tall, short, strong and passionate.
This is a revolution. This is a place for all women whose voice and actions will be heard and acknowledged for a long time.
