One year on since I began my journey as an impact leader, Saahas has evolved into something way bigger than I had imagined.
Today, Saahas comprises a directory of support across 196 countries, a database of guidance notes on understanding gender-based violence and ways to respond to them. The directory of support comprises over 20000 organizations across 196 countries offering medical, legal, education / employment, resources (food, shelter, clothing, emergency support), consular and refugee-specific support, police and ambulance services for survivors of gender-based violence and child support services.
It is a mobile app, a web-based app and now, also a Facebook Messenger ChatBot. The app is available for iPhones and Androids, for Kindle Devices, for Android-based tablets and iPads. It is also available as a web-based app, usable and accessible as a website. It is also a ChatBot, or a messenger-based chat service that offers access to information for survivors and bystanders, where they can come to the page and engage with the ChatBot using the messenger option, to pull up information and helpline numbers. At the end of the day, Saahas recognizes that a survivor’s choice to stand up to violence and a bystander’s choice to intervene in a case of violence is an act of courage.
Now, after having come so far, I am calling upon my sisters - all of you - to join me in becoming a Saahas Ambassador.
As a Saahas Ambassador, you are expected to justdownload this template and send us information on organizations offering support for survivors of gender-based violence in your city, via email to firstname.lastname@example.org.This will help us map your city's resources onto our platform, so that more survivors and bystanders around you can benefit, too!
