WHAT IS THE REAL CONCERN FOR WOMEN AND GIRLS!!!!
WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT YOU WANT OTHERS TO START DOING!!!!
WE NEED A CHANGE .........WHEN????????
I boarded a pretty uneventful bus ride, in comparison to my last one, on the way to Amravati. I have been corresponding with this Diocese about the farmer suicides for over a year just like Khammam.
The next morning I awoke to another new experience…train travel in India (an eight hour trip from Vijayawada to Wardha).
Vijayawada is a very large city that has even been dubbed “the second Mumbai” because of its size. You would not know you were not in New York, Panama City, San Jose, Hong Kong, etc.
Since leaving Khammam I have visited Rajahmundry and Amalapuram (cities in the Andhra Pradesh state of India).
As I made my way into the meeting hall on the Diocese compound I expected to find fifteen to twenty local widows waiting for me...the Diocese had informed me prior to my arrival that they had invited
The last few days have been a whirlwind of exciting times…I attended my first Indian wedding, left Kerala, and have visited widows in two cities in Andhra Pradesh.
Recently I made a day trip to Wayanad, the district that has the most farmer suicides in the whole state of Kerala. We left at 3:00am and drove six and a half hours to Wayanad.
It has taken me a day to formulate my thoughts on my recent experiences before writing this post. I wasn't quite sure how to explain my thoughts, feelings, what I had heard etc.
Yesterday was WEI's first meeting with a widow. She lives in a local village and came to the campus where I stay to meet with me and provide answers for my research.
