My story is my inspiration

My name is Elizabeth Brewah and I am a Sierra Leonean born in a family of four girls one dead. I am the last of all four girls. During the civil war in my country, I was about age 9- 10 when the civil war broke out. I was brutally raped under gun point. As traumatic as it was, my family and I still had to fight for our lives. We had to walk for over 10 miles running for safety and because of how I was rapped, my vigiana was badly swollen and for over four days I could not stand nor walk. It was hard and very difficult for me and my family to pass through those moments. After 21-30 days, I was finally able to get medical attention.

This traumatic incident has being my driving force in life, as some women and girls who I was captured together with never came back alive, they were never able to survive the gang rapping and gun point. I was able to because God was there for me and also I ran away through a lady who knew my parents. As a young girl coming up, I have had this happening beating my heart and mind and today I have been able to accept it and live with it and in the same vain use my story to motivate and inspire other young women around me.  I grow up becoming a humanitarian, after what happened to me and I want the world to know that, being rapped or abuse at any point in your life does not determine your future, some things just happen and neither society nor life cannot change because its your fate .
