Supportively Encircled for Sustainable Impact

The Impact Leader award remains a much welcomed game changing recognition! The day I received news that I had been named a 2016 World Pulse Impact Leader marked another turning point in my life, the history of my work and my connection with World Pulse. “Yes!!! Yipeeeeeeeee!!!” I screamed out in reaction to the heartening news.

From that moment, I knew and became reassured that my life and work had gained a further lift, which would set my vision up for tangible and sustainable success. Women Initiative for sustainable Environment (WISE), a grassroots non profit organization I founded in 2009 has been that formidable platform and tool through which I have been advancing that towering dream. The Impact Leader Award is certainly a whole new level of elevation and visibility for WISE. Yes, yes, yes!

I remain super excited about all that has been unfolding. The outpouring of very warm congratulatory messages from the World Pulse Founder, Board, Staff and my fellow Impact Leaders; celebrating me as a World Leader has been a momentous confidence booster. What a formidable giving circle of support I have come to have and ecstatically take delight in!!!!!!

Once I was introduced to my Impact Team members- Ellen Wasyl, Sabiha Hasan, Tina Petrone and most recently, Jan Emerton, and I became acquainted with their experiences, expertise and achievements by the day, there was no doubting the fact that it was indeed a new dawn for me; in my quest to advance women’s empowerment and leadership in the local and global drive for environmental sustainability and a greener world! I could never thank each of these game changers for believing in me enough to come on board.

Connecting with my Impact Team has doused the isolation I often experience.Same for the disquiet that creeps up within me from time to time, as I think about the way forward for WISE. Having such a highly motivating clique of uniquely versatile women commit to supporting me on my journey of advancing women’s environmental leadership in my community and beyond truly is game changing and transformational. It undoubtedly feels good to be encircled by such an amazing group of go getting women, who are given to listening, inspiring action and helping scale up the impact of my work. I love this global sisterhood of support! Wow!!!!!!

So much has shifted for me and WISE before, during and after our kick off call! It is so stirring and powerful to have a support team that really cares, is full of possibilities, dedicated and geared up to walk my talk and talk my walk with me. As I daily reflect over the words of Ellen Wasyl that “WISE is in good hands”, I am fully reassured that I am no longer alone. Yes, WISE and I are in good hands and all looks set to take us to the next level.

Together, we are walking a noble and novel path towards creating lasting impact in the lives of women and we are an unstoppable winning team! All hands are already on deck to bring WISE’s long standing dream Women’s Eco Learning Center to reality. Together we can, and together we will! “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world: indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”- Margaret Mead.
