Creating Awareness among Youth to prevent Sexual Harassment

Naina Jha conducted an awareness workshop about Sexual Harassment for 25 students of BBA in IIBM college, Patna on 2nd September, 2018.

The workshop began with an ice breaker asking the students what made them feel safe and unsafe and the precautions they take to ensure their safety. Many responded that they felt safe during the day time or when accompanied by someone. Through a slideshow of ads, Naina then went on to explain how advertisements play a role in perpetuating gender biases and roles and objectify women in order to sell products and services. She ended the workshop by elaborating on the different types of sexual harassment, the laws and legislation for each type of harassment and stressed on the importance of consent in everyday life. A few of the students shared their experiences of being harassed.
