ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR ALL: POSSIBLE?

Most revolutionary groups make use of slogans like ‘United we stand, divided we fall’, your success is our success’, ‘one for all, all for one’. Mother wit perceives this to mean ‘we’ are going in for the battle and if we succeed we share the gain and pain.
It is hard to believe that so many women have been deceived, cheated and betrayed by some of these declarations given that empowerment struggles are fast becoming money-making avenues.

A female-oriented Non Governmental Organization [NGO] played a fast one on some women recently. A training session was advertised and interested women were expected to pay the course fee. The NGO promised recruiting the trainees permanently at the end of the session. A good number of women gave up their ‘buyam sellam’ businesses, hair dressing saloons and dressmaking shops to enroll for the training. As you read this post, this group of women is still to know the whereabouts of the NGO. The most aching thing is that they have lost their customers and market stalls. How do they get back into the traffic?
This is one out of so many examples of women who have been made to chase the wind in the name of activism.
