I'm a Woman

Story
I’m a Woman
Don’t try and knock me down, I am stronger than you have made me out to be
And when I’m on the brink of unjust injustices, presumptuous assumptions, obtrude obstructions
I will persevere with intelligent discussions, able-bodied functions, forgetting about injunctions
That are placed upon me.
I wasn’t born silent, repressing, holding back, holding still
I came into this world wide-eyed, screaming, in search of something real
And now that I have grown, now that I have seen what there is to see, feel what there is to feel
No one and nothing could have prepared me for this devil deal.
What can I do to prove to you I won’t break, I won’t fall
I’m still standing, I’m still here, isn’t that proof enough at all?
I’m not made of porcelain, my skin isn’t glass
If you drop me, I’ll pick myself up off my ass
And go on, go forth, continue on my way
I’m a woman: bold, bright, resilient, steadfast
Here to stay.
