India's gender minorities undeterred by the law

Sharing my recent story on how LGBTIQ Indians have gained some social acceptance after struggling over the last 2 decades. Of course, they were part of our diverse culture for long but section 377 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) introduced by the narrow minded British in 1861 had criminalized homosexuality, effectively. Although the sensible Delhi High Court (HC) overturned IPC section 377 on 2nd July 2009, the country's Supreme Court (SC) reversed the Delhi HC judgement in a regressive verdict on 11th December 2013. The Indian government and the Naz foundation (the original appellant against IPC section 377) have filed review petitions in the SC this week.
