How to sell products made in Kenya? Advice?

I have been back in the USA for one a little over one month now and still think about the Power Women Group every single day. I have been trying to find ways to help them expand their market and sell the products they make. Recently, I talked to a store that is interested in selling some of their products. I was so thrilled and email the Power Women the good news.

At first I felt very satisfied and thought that was the best I can do. But as the days go by I can’t help thinking there has to be more. I have been working on making a website to sell their products online, but continue to get discouraged along the way. As I learned more about it I realized if I choose to run an online shop I would have to figure out how to pay taxes on the products sold. So, when pricing the products online I would have to increase the prices for both taxes and shipping fees. I don’t mind doing this, but I don’t know how to go about figuring it all out.

Recently, I wired the rest of the donation I collected for the Power Women Group over to Kenya. This was a difficult task. Because the women’s shop is located in the slums of Kibera and all the women live in the slums I only had a PO Box number to send the money to. My bank would not accept this and it took me weeks to find an address to put down to wire the money. Then when I finally did wire the money it cost $40 dollars to send. I keep thinking there must be an easier way to send money people do it all the time! I thought of using PayPal and have asked the women to try and set up a PayPal account, but they do not know how to set it up.

If you are reading this and have suggestion as to how to send money to Kenya and/or how to run an online shop I would greatly appreciate it!
