About Me:
I am a Northwest-based journalist who is passionate about truth telling and encouraging people to live for the betterment of society. I have worked for the last eight years as a community journalist covering small suburban governments and school districts in the Portland, Ore., area.
I am currently working on earning my master's degree in international studies from the University of Washington. As I do so, I am turning my eye to international food issues, such as food security, nutrition, biotechnology, and the agriculture and food processing industries. Specifically, I enjoy finding connections between the developing world and the U.S. ranging from development assistance, trade and private investment. As food culture and lifestyle of elites in the U.S. continues to get plenty of media attention, I'm interested in life on the other side, such as subsistence farming and childhood nutrition in Africa.
My Passions:
literature, international development, farmer's markets, berry picking, my family, photography
