There is ALWAYS hope

Hope says to me, never give up even when life gives so many reasons to do so. After the monstrous hurricane, Dorian hit The Bahamas, pain, agony and hopelessness plagues the landscape of our nation. After losing my husband and the father of my two children, Imara and Omar Jr, I did not know how to proceed in our girls mentoring. I did not know if I could pour in the lives of others after feeling so broken and confused. I did not know how to proceed when some of our funders became dissolved. I still don't know the how but I know the why and that is good enough for me. My driving force today is looking in the eyes of our girls and seeing their hurt, knowing what they have endured. Our programme mentor girls who live in urban communities, many reside in high crime areas, some witness violent crimes, domestic violence, gang initiations, prostitution and drug usage. I want to quit but I can not, knowing this work can impact their lives and show them that they can overcome their life challenges.

I want to teach our girls that you are greater than where you live and that greatest lives on the inside of you.
